Exhilarating and fast paced, The Fast and the Furious has a colourful vehicle racing story at its centre. Starring Paul Walker and Vin Diesel, the film examines the Asian automotive import industry. A police officer called Brian O'Connor attempts to capture a band of thieves, who use cars that have been powered up to steal goods, by building an alliance with a group of street racers. He gets caught up in an underground desert racing championship in an altered Dodge Charger and comes up against former convict Dom Toretto. In the closing scenes Dom hurts himself and Brian allows him run free instead of arresting him for his crimes because he has developed a friendship with him throughout the course of the movie. The movie fulfils its aim to provide cinema-goers with plenty of entertainment and drama.
Anyone who knows a bit about cars and critically acclaimed movies will recognise The Italian Job. The British film has collected a huge fan base and contemporary sequels of the picture, first released in the 1960s, have been filmed since starring great actors such as Mark Wahlberg and Charlize Theron. Award-winning actor Michael Cain plays the main role. His character, called Charlie, gathers a team of friends together to steal a gold shipment from city in Italy using three Mini Coopers, a bus and two Jaguars. What ensues is a series of car chases through the rivers, sewers, city streets, highways and rooftops. The gold is successfully robbed by the team but their bus loses its grip on the road and is left wobbling over the edge of a cliff - the end credits begin to roll as the thieves work out how they will escape with their loot.
